The aircraft heater, AH42, is a main power operated aircraft cabin interior heater designed to keep warm, heat or ventilate aircraft through the ordinary air condition intake. The fan gives a total pressure of 3,2 kPa.
Without backpressure, full flow capacity is 2 700m3 /h
The heater is with these characteristics able to warm keep all types of aircraft regardless of the resistance in the aircraft tubing system. Please note that special arrangements have to be made to avoid a pressure build up if the aircraft outflow valve is closed on ground.
The heater is a result of careful studies of different aircraft requirements of airflow, pressure, and heating that are necessary in order to achieve comfortable temperature in the aircraft. The heater will automatically maintain the selected temperature regardless of outside temperature.
The temperature selection, 20 0C in cabin, is set in the PLC-system and can only be changed by reprogramming the system.
If outside air temperature is lower than -20°C it is not possible to keep +20°C in cabin which 63 Amp supporting fuse in an 160 seat aircraft and opened outflow valve. Indoor temperature will drop with colder out door temperature.
During the start sequence a discharge valve will prevent cold air from entering the aircraft until sufficient air temperature has been achieved.
During start and stop sequence the discharge valve will ensure that there is no pressure in the air hose to the aircraft. The operator can connect or disconnect the receptacle without any risks. During disconnection phase the fan is still running for cooling the electric elements.
The heater is equipped with a phase sequence control that automatically makes the fan motor run in the correct direction.
Pressure in air supply hose is released when connecting or disconnecting to aircraft inlet. The heater is pure electric, which gives environmental advantages like no noise, no exhaust or no hazard from open fire. An electric unit has also low investment and running costs. More than 200 units in daily operation.
